Tencent : Tech For Good

Working with Visuals Director Wystan Tan from Spectro Visuals, we were commissioned to work on the opening sequence for Tencent, for the Public Welfare. Tencent has recently announced their new calling, Technology for the Social Good. They strongly believe that as a tech company, they have to look into possibilities on how can Technology be in help to the people, especially the ones in need.

Tencent's CEO Ma HuaTeng mentions that as a technology company, one must not only focus solely on profit and neglect the people. The Art Direction for the opening sequence proposed by Wystan, is to go for a paper-cut style. The idea of the style is to have a remembrance of the traditional style that has a history of more than 1500 years and represented cultural values of the people throughout China.

However, there are challenges that we faced during the ideation and execution process. Due to there being dancers who will be performing and interacting with the animated sequence, we are required to work in a way where the interaction points are executed perfectly in terms of the position and time, in order for a seamless interaction with the dancers on ground.
